  5.           MotelMAX is a full working business shareware program designed
  6.      to manage Hotels, Motels, Resorts or Bed & Breakfasts.  It handles
  7.      reservations, advance deposits, guest check-in / check-out and
  8.      provides extensive reports on your business activity, also it's a
  9.      powerful mail manager permitting up to 6 custom letters you can
  10.      design for confirming reservations and deposits or for developing
  11.      marketing strategies.

  13.           The program comes preset with sample data so you can begin
  14.      using MotelMAX right away.  You can customize the set-up as you
  15.      go along by adding your own rooms and rates.  Later, refer to the
  16.      file MOTELMAX.TXT for detailed instructions in setting up and using
  17.      the program.  Registered users receive a 110 page manual.  The
  18.      manual contains an illustrated tutorial that manages in 30 minutes
  19.      to train new users in running the program.

  21.           Refer to the file ORDER.TXT for information on how to order by
  22.      phone or fax.

  24.           MotelMAX is a shareware program and is provided for your full
  25.      evaluation.  All data entered into this evaluation copy exports
  26.      automatically into the registered version.  When you register your
  27.      copy, you do not have to start over or re-key anything.

  57.           want access to accounting information limited to only a few
  58.           users.

  60.           * an export option that can export transactions from MotelMAX
  61.           to QuickBooks or Quicken (Intuit Software).  You can select
  62.           transactions by date, shift or month number and export each
  63.           itemized transaction or a summary transaction for each
  64.           account.  MotelMAX even builds the account, chart of accounts
  65.           or categories for you.

  71.      Hardware Requirements

  74.           This program requires an 80386SX based computer or better.
  75.      It will not run on PC-XT or PC-AT computers.  You need to have DOS
  76.      version 3.3 or higher.  It is recommended that you have DOS 5.00 or
  77.      later and, at least, 4 megs of RAM.

  83.           If you are updating from a prior version of MotelMAX (before
  84.      version 2.50), refer to the file MOTELMAX.TXT for updating
  85.      instructions.  This file also contains installation and set-up
  86.      information.

  89.      Packing List

  92.           If you receive MotelMAX from a bulletin board, the entire
  93.      program and all files will be packed into a single file called
  94.      MOTEL250.ZIP, MTLMAX.ZIP or MTLMAX.EXE.  Once you unpack the
  95.      ZIP file, you should have the following files:

  120.      Printing the MotelMAX User Manual
  121.      ---------------------------------

  123.           Once you complete the installation, you can print a copy of
  124.      the MotelMAX User Manual (23 pages).  The manual is in a file
  125.      called MotelMAX.TXT.  Print the file using the DOS print
  126.      command:  PRINT MotelMAX.TXT <Enter><Enter>

  129.      MotelMAX - Misc
  130.      ---------------

  132.      Time Sensitive - MotelMAX is date and time sensitive.  Be
  133.      sure your computer is set to the correct date and time.
  134.  
  135.      Printer Set-up - MotelMAX prints some reports in
  136.      condensed or compressed print mode.  It needs to know
  137.      what kind of printer you are using and the correct
  138.      printer codes to make your printer work in compressed
  139.      mode.  If you have any trouble locating these codes,
  140.      please contact us.  We have printer codes for several
  141.      hundred printers, too many to list here.  Configuring
  142.      MotelMAX for your printer is very simple, once you know
  143.      the printer codes.

  145.      MotelMAX can be installed in any directory.  It does not
  146.      create any subdirectories.
  147.  
  148.      Press <F1> in most browse tables for important help
  149.      information.

  152.      MotelMAX v2.50 Update Info
  153.      --------------------------
  154.  
  155.      You can update from any prior version of MotelMAX to version 2.50.
  156.      However, it is recommended that you update from either version
  157.      2.31 or version 2.40 only.  If you have an earlier version of MotelMAX
  158.      prior to 2.31, first update to v2.40 then to v2.50.  We can provide
  159.      the necessary files when you register.  This ensures all your data
  160.      is correctly carried forward.

  162.      Updating version 2.40.  Install MotelMAX v2.50 into a directory
  163.      called \TEST.  Copy these files from your \TEST directory into
  164.      the directory where v2.40 is installed:
  165.  
  166.         MOTELMAX.EXE    && main program engine
  167.         HLP.DBF         && updated help info
  168.         HLP.FPT
  169.         LTT.DBF         && new letter format.  You will need to
  170.         LTT.FPT         &&   rekey your letters.
  171.         LBL.DBF         && label printing set-up.

  173.      Updating v2.31.  Copy all of the above files into the directory
  174.      where you have v2.31 installed.  Next copy this one additional
  175.      file:

  177.         SPC.DBF         && folio parameters.
  178.  
  179.      Use the \TEST directory to view the new features in MotelMAX
  180.      v2.50.  When you are ready, change to the directory where you
  181.      normally run MotelMAX and start the program with this
  182.      command: MOTELMAX NEW <Enter>.  All your old data will be
  183.      reformatted to the new file structures.

  185.      Delete the copy of MotelMAX in the \TEST directory to save
  186.      disk space.
